Harborview Restaurant, Check it Out!

Harborview Restaurant

If your looking for atmosphere this is the place to go.  This restaurant is located in Lower Township just over the Middle Thorofare bridge on Ocean Drive leaving Wildwood Crest.

Upon arrival our party was seated on the outside deck overlooking the water.  Indoor seating is also available inside the Restaurant with great views of water and marina. The outside deck is very large with seating under the canopy or you can sit out in the open air deck and soak up the sun.  On the weekends you can usually find a band playing on the outside deck and the Sushi Bar is also available out on the deck.

Our server was prompt, courteous and polite. We ordered Mild Buffalo wings and Bottle caps as our appetizers.  Bottle caps are absolutely the best “new” appetizer I have eaten in a long time, they are fried jalapeño peppers dipped in a ranch sauce.  If you like spicy food you have to try these!  The children loved the buffalo wings and claim to be wing connoisseurs, so if they say they are good then you know we are going back to the Harborview.  For dinner we ordered the riblets dinner, with corn fritters and cole slaw, chicken tenders meal with French fries and grilled cheese sandwiches.  The corn fritters were little sweet fried corn balls that were very appetizing.  The cole slaw was a little bland, and the French Fries were a hit with the children.  The riblets were in a delicious BBQ sauce and while some were a little too fatty they were devoured by my 5 year old who absolutely loved them.

I did look at the Sushi menu and they have alot to choose from and the prices seemed reasonable. We had a nice time with the band playing on the back deck and our bill was $66 + tip for myself and five children.  The children enjoyed dancing on the deck prior to leaving and also noticed that the outside deck is pet friendly.  Quite a few people had their dogs lounging beside them outside on the deck.  We gave the Harborview 4 stars out of 5, it offers something for everyone and is a very family friendly place.

Ghost Ship on Moreys Piers-Mariners Landing

My wife , son, and I had the opportunity to get a sneak review of the new attraction on Mariners Landing – the “Ghost Ship”. The attraction was a conversion (thats an understatement) from a mini golf course to the pirate ship. As always, the Moreys did a fabulous job of adding a new dimension to the pier complete with actors and “vaudeville” type shows. The interesting part is that the attraction will change throughout the summer so if you go back to the ride it wont be the same. You must try the attraction but suggest you do it last at night-for an even greater spooktacular experience!

WILDWOODS VOTED #1

The Wildwoods named #1 in the 3rd Annual New Jersey’s Top 10 Beaches Survey

“The Wildwoods” took top honors in all 4 categories: Family Vacation, Day Trips, Shore Events and Ecotourism.

The New Jersey Top Ten Beaches project, created three years ago by the New Jersey Marine Sciences Consortium/New Jersey Sea Grant, (NJMSC/NJSG) and the Richard Stockton College Coastal Research Center (CRC) has become a friendly but still competitive annual voting event among New Jersey beachgoers.

Sushi Lovers-Tokyo is the Best!

Just across the bridge in Rio Grande, you’ll find TOKYO, a great sush bar. Everything is so fresh and the service is prompt friendly and affordable. I particularly enjoy the Wildwood roll (how appropriate?), the Jalapeno roll, the Red Devil Roll, and the Eastern roll. We usually sit at the bar so we can watch the chefs create their master pieces. My wife usually gets the traditional Shrimp Tempura roll and the Miso soup. My side dish is Pork Yokudan or Chicken Soba. Its a bring your own Sake place too (or wine and beer whatever you prefer). The next time your in the area you must try TOKYO!

Tony Luke’s is coming to the Wildwoods

It’s official!  The Wildwoods is getting its very own Tony Luke’s!  What is Tony Luke’s you ask…what… are ya from Mars?  It’s only one of the greatest Philadelphia institutions, serving the best cheese steak sandwiches ever! (For information on their awards & community achievements check them out on line)  Scheduled to open Summer 2010 in Wildwood Crest and we can’t wait!!!!

Wildwood’s Family Traditions

This year Cabrera Realty introduced it’s new tag line , “Family Traditions Start With Us”. We learned that folks vacation and purchase property at the shore not only for the proximity to the beach but because it was part of their FAMILY TRADITION. We live here in Wildwood Crest and enjoy the solitude of the off-season but now that its getting warmer, we’re excited for the Spring and Summer. One of our Cabrera family “local” traditions, is our Sunday lunch at Sams Pizza at 26th street and the Boardwalk and Curly Fries. They just re-opened (Yes-there is life at the beach in April!) I guess you could say all diets are off! Why not share some of your Wildwood traditions with us!

One of the new up and coming restaurants that came to the Wildwood’s this
summer was the Jersey Girl Restaurant located at Schellinger and Atlantic
Avenues.  The Restaurant, operated by the John Family, formerly of Pacific
Grill and the Sandcastle Restaurant, has one of the best menus and
atmosphere on the Island.  I have to rave about #1 the Pear Salad, #2
Bartender Tim, and #3 did I mention the Pear Salad.  Read the rest of this entry »
